Our Work

Our Programs

Seven evidence-based programs tackling interconnected challenges across Ghana's Eastern Region.

Teen Mentorship & Pregnancy Prevention

Teenage pregnancy remains one of the most significant barriers to girls' education and economic independence in Ghana's Eastern Region. SIGC's Teen Mentorship Program takes a structured, school-based approach to address this challenge at its root — through education, mentorship, and community engagement.

What We Do

  • School-based mentorship programs with trained mentors
  • Reproductive health and life skills education sessions
  • Support for teen mothers to return to school and continue education
  • Parent and community engagement workshops
  • Safe spaces for young girls to discuss challenges
  • Peer education and leadership development

Expected Impact

  • 600 teenagers reached annually per community
  • Reduced rates of teenage pregnancy in target schools
  • Increased school retention among girls
  • Greater awareness of reproductive health rights
  • Empowered peer educators and youth leaders

  • Career seminars and vocational exposure events
  • One-on-one and group counseling sessions
  • Vocational pathway education and skills mapping
  • Internship and work-experience placements
  • CV writing and interview preparation workshops
  • Connections to further education and training opportunities

Expected Impact

  • Improved career clarity among youth participants
  • Increased enrollment in vocational and technical programs
  • Youth connected to internships and employment
  • Stronger aspirations and goal-setting skills
  • Reduced youth unemployment in target communities

  • Training in bead making, tailoring, basket weaving, soap making, and gypsum mold production
  • Formation of youth cooperatives and savings groups
  • Market linkages for handicraft products
  • Business skills and entrepreneurship training
  • Provision of starter tool kits and materials
  • Mentorship by established artisans and entrepreneurs

Expected Impact

  • 300+ youth trained in handicraft skills annually
  • Active youth cooperatives producing and selling products
  • Increased household incomes among participants
  • New micro-enterprises established by trained youth
  • Cultural crafts preserved and commercialized

  • Diabetes testing and glucose monitoring
  • Eye testing and vision care referrals
  • Prostate cancer screening for men
  • HIV testing and counseling

  • Skills training tailored to participants' abilities and contexts
  • Micro-enterprise setup support and seed funding
  • Financial literacy and savings group formation

Scholarship Program

Education is the most powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty. Yet financial barriers prevent too many talented children from continuing their education. SIGC's Scholarship Program removes these barriers by investing directly in children from basic school through university.

What We Do

  • Educational scholarships for children from basic school through JHS
  • University-level scholarships for exceptional students from vulnerable backgrounds
  • School fees, books, uniforms, and materials support
  • Academic mentoring and tutoring support
  • Regular monitoring of scholar progress and welfare
  • Parent and guardian engagement in scholars' education

Expected Impact

  • Increased school completion rates among supported children
  • Scholarships awarded to students from basic through university level
  • Breaking intergenerational cycles of poverty through education
  • Empowered young people who become community leaders
  • Alignment with UN SDG 4: Quality Education
